Vraňany-Hořín Canal

The Vraňany-Hořín Navigation Canal is a one-of-a-kind project. Thanks to the secured underpass heights of 7 m, some larger ships may come through all the way to Prague even from Germany.

Colas CZ, a.s. participated in the construction of two bridges - in Vrbno and Zelčín. Throughout the course of 2020, there was a complete demolition of the original object, setting up a deep foundation of the new substructure, an installation of the steel supporting structure and concreting of the spread footing. The construction also included the relocation of the agricultural irrigation system, planting of replacement wood species and modification of rural roads and access roads. Both bridges are used for road traffic as well as by pedestrians and cyclists.

The canal between Vraňany and Hořín had been modernised after more than 100 years and we are proud to have been able to participate in such an important and interesting project.
