Kyjice - Chomutov railway

In the consortium of COLAS CZ and Colas Rail, we will soon start the reconstruction of the almost eigt-kilometer double-track section under the Krušné hory Mountains. The Kyjice Chomutov section is part of the main line Ústí nad Labem - Cheb, the European railway network. The implementation of the building is proposed to be co-financed by the EU from the Cohesion Fund within the Transport Program and SFDI state funding.

Two stops, Chomutov město and Jirkov, will undergo modernization, which will have barrier-free access and expanded platforms. At the same time, the track speed will increase. It was supposed to be finished in mid 2027.

The track section that will undergo reconstruction was created in the 80s of the last century in connection with the progressive extraction of brown coal. Its biggest landmark is the 418- meter long Vrskmaňská flyover, which, among other things, crosses the Újezd reservoir.

To increase traffic safety, a new uderpass will be built connecting Otvice with the shopping area. The crossing in Chomutov between Lake Kamenec and the local zoo will be replaced by a footbridge. The uderpass in Jirkov is being extended, creating access to trains from the village Otvice as well.
