The foundation stone ceremony symbolically kicked off the redevelopment of the Okrouhlá grade-separated interchange.

With the ceremonial laying of the foundation stone, we symbolically launched one of the most important transport infrastructure projects in the Liberec Region. As a member of the construction consortium SaM silnice a mosty a.s. and COLAS CZ a.s., we are participating in the implementation of the I/9 Okrouhlá Grade-Separated Interchange project, which will modernize a key transport junction between Nový Bor and Okrouhlá.

The project is linked to the planned bypasses of Nový Bor and Dolní Libchava and represents an important step toward increasing the capacity, traffic flow, and safety of Road I/9, one of the main transport corridors in North Bohemia.

Reconstruction of a Key Transport Interchange

The project involves the comprehensive reconstruction of the existing Okrouhlá grade-separated interchange, which will no longer meet future traffic capacity requirements or integrate effectively with planned infrastructure developments.

The scope of works includes widening a 585-metre section of Road I/9 to a three-lane 2+1 configuration, modifying the interchange ramps, and adding auxiliary traffic lanes.

A major structure within the project will be a new bridge carrying Road I/13 over Road I/9, replacing the existing bridge. The new overpass is also being designed to accommodate future transport infrastructure developments in the area.

The project further includes the construction of noise barriers, utility relocations, landscaping works, wildlife fencing to prevent animals from entering the roadway, and a new control station for the Czech Police.

Construction Under Traffic

The construction is being carried out in phases to maintain traffic flow on the important I/9 and I/13 road connection throughout the project.

Current activities include earthworks and site preparation for the construction of the new bridge. As part of the preparatory works, the gas pipeline relocation has already been completed, while additional works required for the upcoming construction stages are ongoing.

Thanks to careful planning and close coordination among all project participants, the impact of the construction works on drivers and nearby municipalities is being kept to a minimum.

Investing in Safer Transportation

The modernized grade-separated interchange will make a significant contribution to improving road safety and strengthening regional transport connectivity. At the same time, it will create a key prerequisite for the future diversion of transit traffic away from the built-up areas of Česká Lípa and Nový Bor.

We are proud to be part of a project that will have a long-term positive impact on transportation infrastructure and the quality of life of residents throughout the region.
