The nearly two-kilometre bypass of Svor in northern Bohemia, which Colas CZ is constructing in association with MI Roads, is entering its final stage exactly according to schedule after two years of work in challenging terrain.
The bypass, which the municipality has been awaiting for forty years, will open in mid-November as stipulated in the contract.
At the same time, the lengthy diversion route that has been in place due to the closure of Svor, leading through Česká Kamenice and Chřibská, will come to an end.
The relocation of Road I/9, which serves as the main transport link between the Mladá Boleslav and Česká Lípa regions and the Šluknov salient, will provide not only a safer and more transparent transport corridor but also significant relief for local residents. Approximately 6,500 vehicles, including around 1,000 heavy goods vehicles, currently pass through Svor every day.
The new bypass, which will open to traffic in mid-November, will connect to the already completed four-lane section of Road I/9 between Nový Bor and Svor, which was opened to traffic in the summer of 2024
